Psychologist Emma Geoghegan is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and holds a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, along with post-graduate training and certifications. She genuinely cares about helping people become more successful and fulfilled in both life and work.

As a psychologist, Emma has seen how counselling and coaching can make a powerful difference in people’s lives. Her comprehensive training allows her to use effective interventions, techniques, and tools that help clients feel better and move forward with confidence. Emma is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure she offers the most up-to-date and effective approaches.
We are bound by our Code of Ethics to protect your privacy through strict rules of confidentiality. All information shared in counselling is considered privileged and cannot be disclosed to third parties without your written consent. This includes the scheduling of appointments, session content, and any records kept, as outlined by the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Emma Geoghegan is a Calgary-based Registered Psychologist and the founder of Defining Solutions. For over 25 years, she has helped individuals and organizations achieve meaningful growth and fulfillment through evidence-based counselling and consulting.

Emma works with clients managing anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, communication challenges, and interpersonal concerns. She also helps individuals navigate career and life transitions, build resilience, and find balance and purpose in their personal and professional lives.

Emma’s approach is collaborative and holistic. She believes clients bring deep insight into what works best for them, while she brings the counselling expertise to help them gain new perspective and develop practical strategies for positive change. Together, she helps clients explore their strengths, values, and resources to create a clear, attainable plan for their goals.

Beyond individual counselling, Emma supports organizations in building psychologically healthy workplaces. She provides leadership assessments, coaching, and workshops on topics such as diversity, stress management, and navigating change. Her assessment-based approach helps leaders identify strengths and growth areas, accelerating development and long-term success.

Emma holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria (Faculty of Educational Psychology and Leadership). She is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. She currently serves as Adjunct Faculty with the Centre for Creative Leadership and as an Executive Coach and Facilitator with the Niagara Institute, part of the Conference Board of Canada.
